Nephrotic syndrome is a term for a condition caused by kidney disease or other systemic diseases, characterized by protein excretion in the urine (proteinuria), decreased blood protein in the blood, traces of blood in the urine (hematuria), increased blood cholesterol levels, edema in various tissues and increased blood pressure.
